“‘Ay nangangagat ka?!’ Bigla niya pong pinaghahabol po ng tsinelas, hinampas hampas niya po. Sinipa niya pa po yun e,” recounted "Riri," the puppy's owner, describing the suspect’s violent reaction.
A witness reported that the injured puppy cried in pain and fled to a corner after being attacked. CCTV footage showed the puppy being slammed onto a concrete floor and whimpering in agony.
The suspect later went to the barangay hall claiming the puppy bit him. However, authorities noted inconsistencies.
“Noong una, nagpa-blotter siya. Ang sabi niya, nakagat siya ng aso. Lasing nga siya nung pumunta rito,” said barangay desk officer Ronaldo Cruz.
Kikiam was taken to a veterinarian who confirmed the puppy suffered a bone fracture.
“Kapag ‘di daw gumaling, nakuha sa gamot, baka putulin yung isang paa niya kasi may crack sa may buto,” said Riri.
The suspect, a tricycle driver, has gone into hiding. Meanwhile, Riri plans to file formal charges against him as Kikiam continues to recover.
