Her cousin’s husband, facing away, didn’t notice the kid had stepped out. A red car, driven by a 19-year-old, struck the boy.

The mom ran out and found her son covered in blood.
She held him, pleading, “Nak, huwag kang matutulog,” as he struggled to stay conscious. Barangay San Rafael officials quickly intervened, using their ambulance to rush him to the hospital.
Barangay officials acted quickly to save him, but the driver, who lacked a license, tried to flee the scene.
The boy’s mother shared her emotional struggle, while an initial settlement with the car owner fell apart, leaving the family to cover hospital costs.
Barangay Task Force member Rolando Domingo heard a car honking and sprang into action.
CCTV footage showed officials stopping the car and calling the ambulance.
But moments later, the driver sped off, leaving the scene. Barangay officials chased him with a patrol, though he initially escaped.
Rodriguez Police later tracked him down, revealing he had no license and drove without permission from the car owner, his stepfather.
