A 50-year-old truck driver tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal, on Tuesday.

The incident involved the truck he was driving, which was carrying a backhoe, a “kolong-kolong” (a type of motorized tricycle), and another truck.
The driver of the truck hauling the backhoe sustained fatal head injuries as his vehicle reportedly lurched forward, impacting the other two vehicles.
According to an exclusive report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the “kolong-kolong” appeared to have been caught in a devastating sandwich collision, positioned between the two trucks.

Police Lieutenant Paul Macasa Sabulao, the chief of Rodriguez, Rizal Police, recounted a witness's account of the accident.
The witness stated that the driver of the truck carrying the backhoe had parked along Mayon Avenue to seemingly adjust or balance his heavy cargo.
“Bumagsak itong hydraulic, 'yung parang pangtukod,” Police Lieutenant Sabulao explained.
“Bumagsak at bumulusok na itong truck na may sakay na backhoe. Nahagip 'yung driver nu'n at du'n bumangga sa isang kotse rin na naka-park doon. At saka 'yung tricycle na nakaladkad at bumangga roon sa isang truck din na naka-park,” P/Lt. Sabulao added.
Wilfredo Mapola, the Officer-in-Charge of Area 2 of Barangay San Jose, described the grim scene upon their arrival.
“Lifeless na talaga 'yung tao pagdating namin kasi medyo hanggang sa ulo na 'yung tama niya. May karga siyang backhoe. Ayun 'yung nakadagan sa kaniya,” Mapola stated.
The drivers of the “kolong-kolong” and the other truck involved miraculously survived the collision. However, the truck that was struck sustained significant damage.
GMA Integrated News is reportedly attempting to reach out to the bereaved family of the deceased truck driver, who was a resident of Barangay San Isidro, to obtain their statement regarding the tragic incident.
The Rodriguez, Rizal Police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to this fatal collision.
This will likely involve a detailed examination of the truck carrying the backhoe, including any mechanical issues that may have contributed to the accident, as well as statements from witnesses and the surviving drivers.
