Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon personally visited the wake of four-year-old Malia Masongsong, one of the victims in the tragic car crash at NAIA Terminal 1, to offer his condolences and support to the grieving family.

In a heartfelt gesture, Dizon embraced Danmark Masongsong, the father of the young girl, during the visit held in Lipa, Batangas.

Dizon was accompanied by Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, who also extended his sympathies to the bereaved family.

Dizon offered a prayer for Malia at the wake, honoring the memory of the young victim whose life was tragically cut short.

The emotional scene underscored the deep sorrow brought about by the accident and the commitment of government officials to reach out to affected families.

Malia was one of two individuals who died when an SUV crashed into a bollard outside NAIA Terminal 1.

The incident shocked the public and led to growing concerns about safety around airport terminals.

The driver involved in the crash tested negative for dr&gs and alcohol, as confirmed by the Aviation Security Unit-NCR.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.

Secretary Dizon’s visit serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and government presence in times of tragedy.

As the investigation continues, the DOTr and other agencies vow to review and strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents and protect the public, especially in high-traffic transport hubs.

In a previous report by KAMI, the Land Transportation Office has already taken action on the driver of the SUV that rammed people in NAIA Terminal 1. On their Facebook page, the agency said they put the driver's license on preventive suspension for 90 days while investigations are still ongoing. It can be recalled that the SUV suddenly accelerated, resulting in 2 casualties and a couple of people injured. An SCO has already been issued against the registered owner of the SUV and the driver involved in the tragic incident.

Additionally, the Overseas Filipino Worker, father of the 5-year-old girl victim in the NAIA Terminal 1 incident yesterday, has no longer proceeded to leave the country. In a report by GMA 7's 'Unang Balita,' he and other family members went to a Pasay funeral facility where the initial processing of the deceased victims was made. The OFW father of the girl victim personally took his daughter's remains and will be bringing them to Lipa City, Batangas.
