In the video statement released Monday, Duterte noted the alarming number of road fatalities in the country in 2021.
The country’s second-in-command then stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility involving the government, private sector, and every citizen. She urged everyone to adhere to traffic rules to help make the country’s roads safe for all.

It is worth noting that the vice president's statement came following the bloody Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) incident and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) car crash.
