Police revealed that the suspect was not connected to the truck crew, but was instead a thief who took advantage of the moment when the truck’s helper briefly stepped away to deliver goods to a nearby store.
Among the stolen items were personal belongings and nearly ₱100,000 in cash, which had been collected from various sari-sari stores visited by the delivery team.
The suspect, identified only as “Chris,” a 39-year-old man, was arrested in a follow-up operation.
He admitted to the crime, citing joblessness and desperation as his reasons.
Noong una kasi may nakuha akong barya.
Police recovered the cash and some of the stolen items. The suspect is now detained at the Antipolo City Police Station and faces charges of theft.
