Former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member and whistleblower Sandra Cam has died on Thursday, April 10. She was 64 years old.

The unfortunate news was confirmed by her son, Marco Martin, in a heartbreaking post on Facebook.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother, Sandra Abaño Martinez- Cam who was called to join our Creator on April 10, 2025,” he revealed.
In his statement, Martin also paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, who he affectionately called “Mama Ningning.”

“Sandra Cam was born and raised in the humble town of Batuan, Masbate. She is a faithful woman of God and was known for her dauntless courage, bold spirit and unwavering dedication as a diligent fighter for truth - qualities that earned her the ‘Dangal ng Bayan’ award and recognition as a ‘Natatanging Filipina na Sumusulong sa Pagtulong at Paglaban sa Korapsyon.’”
He continued, “Her deep value for education likewise earned her recognition as an Outstanding Asian Public Servant and Educator in the Philippines. Her final role in public service was as a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) where she devoted her remaining years to serving the poor and those in need.”
Martin likewise dubbed his mom “a resilient single mother who raised three sons into strong, capable men-each one carrying forward her legacy of serving the Filipino people with courage and compassion.”

Furthermore, he invited everyone to the viewing at St. Peter's Chapel on Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue in Parañaque.
“In loving memory and with gratitude to God for a life well lived, we invite our family, friends, and those whose lives she has touched to join us as we celebrate the gift of her life. Viewing will start on April 11, 2025 (6PM), Room 506.”
Born on October 8, 1960, Cam was a jueteng whistleblower in 2005 and headed the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines. She also ran for senator in the 2016 elections but did not win.
