Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que and his driver, identified as Armanie Pabill, were found dead in Rodriguez, Rizal, on April 9, 2025, following their abduction on March 29.

The bodies were discovered in Sitio Udiongan, Barangay Macabud, placed inside a nylon sack with faces wrapped in duct tape, GMA News reported.

Que, the owner of Elison Steel in Valenzuela, was kidnapped along with Pabillo from a seafood restaurant in Pasay City, Manila Times reported.

In response to the incident, Police Brigadier General Elmer Ragay was relieved from his position as head of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) and replaced by Police Colonel David Poklay, previously the deputy chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo stated that the PNP chief was dissatisfied with Ragay's performance, leading to his removal.

The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) condemned the kidnapping and murders, describing these acts as "an assault on the soul of our nation" and a "grotesque violation of humanity."

They emphasized that such crimes are a "declaration of war against the principles of justice, decency, and peace that bind us as a society."

Still in Negros Occidental, a 53-year-old woman died and two others were injured after being hit by a pickup truck while jogging in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City. The incident occurred when the group of women briefly stopped their jog to take photographs, leading to the collision with the vehicle. The pickup truck driver, Fernando Oquina, stated that he did not see the women on the road prior to the collision. The family of the victim is determined to file a case.

Meanwhile in other news, a barangay chairman in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan died after he was shot but a still unknown gunman. According to the report of Balitanghali of GMA Integrated News, the victim was driving a tricycle. A man at the roadside then signaled for him to stop, and when he did, he was shot by the perpetrator. The gunman immediately fled the scene, but authorities already have a person of interest.
