A motorcycle rider was seriously injured after crashing into the back of a jeepney along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City on Tuesday evening.

According to Frontline Pilipinas, the incident occurred when the rider, reportedly distracted while using his cellphone, failed to slow down as a jeepney ahead stopped to let a passenger off.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the victim slammed into the rear of the stationary jeepney and was thrown off his motorcycle.
The impact dislodged his helmet, leaving his head and body vulnerable.

Tragically, another motorcycle rider following closely behind ran over the fallen victim, particularly hitting his thigh.
Instead of offering help, the second rider initially pulled over but then fled the scene, leaving the injured man lying on the road.
Bystanders quickly responded and the victim was brought to a nearby hospital, where he is now recuperating.
Similar accidents have been reported in recent weeks.
In March, a delivery rider was killed in Caloocan after colliding with a turning truck while allegedly checking his phone.
Meanwhile, in Cavite, a helmetless rider died after skidding on a wet road and being struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Authorities continue to remind motorists to stay alert, avoid distractions, and strictly observe traffic rules to prevent such life-threatening incidents.

The pickup truck driver, Fernando Oquina, stated that he did not see the women on the road prior to the collision.
Meanwhile in other news, a barangay chairman in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan died after he was shot but a still unknown gunman. According to the report of Balitanghali of GMA Integrated News, the victim was driving a tricycle. A man at the roadside then signaled for him to stop, and when he did, he was shot by the perpetrator. The gunman immediately fled the scene, but authorities already have a person of interest.
