Police authorities are now looking for the male suspect who might be charged with the violation of the "Bawal Bastos Law."
The Bawal Bastos Law of the Philippines, officially known as Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act, was signed into law in April 2019. It aims to address and eliminate gender-based s3xual harassment in public spaces, workplaces, schools, and online platforms. The law seeks to protect individuals from various forms of s3xual harassment and promote a culture of respect, equality, and inclusivity.
Under this law, acts such as catcalling, wolf-whistling, leering, groping, persistent unwanted comments, public mast*rb*tion, and other lewd gestures are considered punishable offenses. It also covers online s3xual harassment, including sending unwanted s3xual remarks or threats, and the non-consensual sharing of private images. In the workplace and schools, it addresses unwanted s3xual advances, verbal abuse, or any inappropriate conduct committed by colleagues, superiors, or persons in positions of authority.

The Safe Spaces Act applies to streets, parks, public transportation, malls, online platforms such as social media and messaging apps, and also includes educational institutions and office environments. Offenders may face penalties ranging from fines and mandatory gender sensitivity seminars to imprisonment, depending on the gravity and frequency of the violation.
Enforcement of the law is carried out by barangay officials, local government units, the police, and administrators in both schools and private companies. National agencies like the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) are tasked with overseeing the law’s implementation. Ultimately, the Bawal Bastos Law serves as a vital step toward ensuring safe, respectful, and harassment-free environments for all Filipinos, regardless of gender or s3xual orientation.

In a previous report by KAMI, a family of three was mercilessly shot and killed inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Caught by CCTV, three men entered their store, closed the roll up door, and shot the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspect even grabbed a bag and mobile phone from the suspects. In a report by Gary De Leon of TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the family started getting threats after lending P1-M to one of the residents of their barangay; allegedly using the money for business.
In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
