The victim was reportedly assaulted twice on the same day.
Attempts by GMA Integrated News and Sangguniang Kabataan officials to reach out to the victim were unsuccessful, as her parents declined to comment.
According to the same source, the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the victim and the group’s apparent leader who initiated the attack.
Meanwhile, a sibling of one of the alleged aggressors claimed that it was actually their sibling who was bullied first.
In a report submitted to the Department of Education Central Office, the school principal stated that the victim revealed the bullying occurred during their 3 p.m. break and happened again at dismissal around 6 p.m.
The victim did not report the incident to her parents or class adviser out of fear.
“The School Administration acknowledges the serious allegations of bullying and is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident captured in the video. We ask the public to trust our established procedures for handling this situation,” Bagong Silangan High School said in a statement.
“We want to reassure our students and their families that we are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone. Bullying in any form is strictly prohibited, and we will take all necessary steps to address this matter. The safety and well-being of our students are our top priority,” the statement continued.
The Department of Education said it is addressing the incident and has ordered the school to expedite the investigation.
