According to John Bartolay, uncle of the victim, Shan's mother and his stepdad got into an arguement while he was sleeping.

After waking up, the boy was shocked when he didn't see his mother around. They assumed that the little boy went out looking for his mother.

John said that Shan might've been carried by the strong current of the river that why he ended up in a somehow distant spot.

However, the victim's grandmother, Rosalia Bartolay was suspicious if the boy really died from drowning.

According to her, why would they hide if they're innocent about the boy's death.

Whether there's a foul play or none, Rosalia's wish was for them to show up so they could get the true story behind the incident.

The victim's family wished for the authorities to run an autopsy on Shan's body.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City Police promised to run a thorough investigation on the incident.

"Dalawa ang tinitingnan nating angulo, una may kapabayaan sila, negligence ng magulang na iniwan ang bata na minor na nasa dagat lang, yung isang angulo na tinitingnan natin kung talaga bang sinadya ang pagkakalunod ng bata," said PLTCOL Christian Torres, Spokesperson of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office. "
