A content creator in Negros Oriental faced backlash after lying in the middle of the road for a stunt, prompting a call-out from the Highway Patrol Unit (HPU) of the province.

According to Frontline Pilipinas, the man, identified as Jerome Memis, admitted that the act was merely for content creation.

A video of the incident, shared with Frontline Pilipinas by Stupido Brothers, showed Jerome walking toward the middle of the road, laying down a blanket, and pretending to sleep.

PSMS Aurelio Bodo, Chief of the HPG Negros Oriental, stated that Memis could potentially face charges for public alarms and scandals due to the reckless stunt.

Authorities emphasized that such acts not only endanger the individual but also pose risks to motorists and pedestrians.

Following the incident, Jerome Memis publicly apologized in the presence of the HPG Chief, expressing remorse for his actions.

He assured authorities and the public that he would not attempt similar stunts again.

The video has since sparked discussions online about the lengths some content creators go to for views and engagement.

Law enforcement officials continue to warn against dangerous social media trends that compromise public safety.

Meanwhile, a female graduating criminology working student who works as a service crew of a large fast food chain died after her motorcycle collided with a pickup. Another female service crew, who was backriding on the motorcycle was brought to the hospital, and is recovering from fractures. The 26-year-old victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Investigation showed that the pickup driven by a 23-year-old bank teller counterflowed.

In other news, an elderly man died after he and his wife were ambushed while travelling aboard their pickup truck along a national highway in Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur. According to a report by GMA Regional TV News, the 77-year-old male died while his 66-year-old wife suffered injuries. Reports also state that the 77-year-old male was identified as a manager at an agri-machinery company. Investigators say that the two were tailed by motorcycle-riding gunmen and when they got to a certain, they opened fire, fatally injuring the 77-year-old male and inflicting injuries to his wife.
