A businesswoman was killed after being shot by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City, on Friday, March 29.

The 54-year-old victim had just left the barangay hall after filing a blotter report regarding threats to her life when she was ambushed.

According to a report by Nimfa Ravelo on Super Radyo dzBB, the shooting took place at around 11:45 AM on Sampaguita Street.

Based on the investigation by the Southern Police District, the victim was on her way home when she was suddenly gunned down by an unknown suspect who immediately fled the scene.

The victim had gone to the barangay hall to report receiving two life-threatening messages—one through a phone call and another in a written letter—from two unidentified men.

However, before she could secure protection from authorities, she was ambushed in the street.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive behind the killing.

CCTV footage from the area is also being reviewed to aid in solving the case.

Family members and acquaintances of the victim have expressed their condolences while calling on authorities to deliver justice for her death.

The police encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward to expedite the investigation and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

Meanwhile, a female graduating criminology working student who works as a service crew of a large fast food chain died after her motorcycle collided with a pickup. Another female service crew, who was backriding on the motorcycle was brought to the hospital, and is recovering from fractures. The 26-year-old victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Investigation showed that the pickup driven by a 23-year-old bank teller counterflowed.

In other news, an elderly man died after he and his wife were ambushed while travelling aboard their pickup truck along a national highway in Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur. According to a report by GMA Regional TV News, the 77-year-old male died while his 66-year-old wife suffered injuries. Reports also state that the 77-year-old male was identified as a manager at an agri-machinery company. Investigators say that the two were tailed by motorcycle-riding gunmen and when they got to a certain, they opened fire, fatally injuring the 77-year-old male and inflicting injuries to his wife.
