A female election officer and her husband died in a tragic ambush in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

The couple was attacked while traveling in their sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Wednesday morning.
Police reports identify the deceased election officer as Atty. Maceda L. Abo, and her husband as Jojo Abo.
The couple had reportedly just left their residence and were traveling along the Cotabato-Shariff Aguak Road in Barangay Makir when they were targeted by armed assailants at approximately 8:20 a.m.

The couple was immediately transported to the Datu Odin Sinsuat District Hospital. However, Jojo Abo was declared dead on arrival.
Maceda Abo was subsequently transferred to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities recovered several spent bullet casings from a 5.56 caliber firearm at the scene of the crime.
An ongoing investigation is underway, with law enforcement officials reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the perpetrators.
In response to the ambush, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia has recommended that Datu Odin Sinsuat be placed under Comelec control.
"The killing of our election officer in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Mrs. Maceda Lidasan-Abo, along with her husband who was driving the vehicle, is a very sad incident...
Therefore, I myself will recommend to the Commission en banc that Datu Odin Sinsuat be placed under Comelec control," Garcia stated.
This incident has heightened concerns about safety and security in the region, particularly in relation to election officials.
The violent nature of the attack, and the fact that the victim was an election officer, has caused alarm.
The Comelec's recommendation to place the area under their control indicates the seriousness of the situation.
Law enforcement agencies have prioritized apprehending the perpetrators. The investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, a dog miraculously survived the vicious attack of a crocodile in Bataraza, Palawan. The day after the attack, the large crocodile was also observed to be lurking underneath a makeshift wooden bridge. In a chilling footage featured in an episode of “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim,” the crocodile’s eyes can be seen through the gaps in the bridge. According to witnesses in the area, the said crocodile was the same one that attacked a dog named “Poochie” the day before.
