A high-stakes operation in Calamba City, Laguna, culminated in the death of a man identified as the most wanted individual in the Calabarzon region, following an alleged armed confrontation with law enforcement.

The incident unfolded in Purok 4, Sitio Salagubang, Barangay Palingon, as police attempted to serve arrest warrants.
The deceased, 30-year-old Mark Lee Almendral, was the subject of multiple warrants related to two murder cases and two attempted murder cases.

Paul Kenneth Lucas, documented the officers' entry into a residence to execute the arrest.
The video also captured the presence of a distressed child within the premises, who was promptly removed from the scene by the officers.
Audio from the video revealed officers issuing verbal commands to Almendral, urging him to surrender and warning of the potential use of force.
Moments later, the situation escalated, with officers reporting that Almendral had allegedly thrown a grenade.
Though the grenade did not detonate, the officers then discharged their firearms, and Almendral was subsequently found deceased outside the residence.
Attempts to obtain official statements from Calamba City Police Chief PLTCol. Victor Sobrepeña were unsuccessful.
Similarly, Calabarzon Police Chief PBGen. Paul Kenneth Lucas did not provide direct commentary, instead, the Calabarzon Police sent a copy of the police report.
The police report confirmed that the operation was based on warrants of arrest issued by Presiding Judge Maria Cecilia Ty Pantua of the 4th Judicial Region, Branch 104, Calamba City, and Presiding Judge Angelina Mailom-Orendain of the 4th Judicial Region, Branch 92, Calamba City, for murder.

Warrants related to attempted murder were also issued by Acting Presiding Judge Mary Grace Bonsol-Cabal of the 4th Judicial Region, Branch 35, Calamba City, and Presiding Judge Maria Cecilia Ty Pantua.
The operation was conducted by the Tactical Support Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4A, the RID Special Team, and the Warrant Section and Intel Operatives of the Calamba City Police.
Additionally, Rowena Manila, 33, Almendral's live-in partner, was arrested for allegedly obstructing the operation and confronting the officers.
She now faces charges of direct assault and obstruction of justice.

In other news, a tricycle was suddenly engulfed in flames at the side of the road. Based on the report of GMA News, the incident happened in Brgy. Martirez Del 96, Pateros. CCTV footage showed that prior to the fire, the tricycle driver tried several times to start the tricycle but to no avail. Fortunately, a tricycle that was about to deliver water, passed by and two delivery boys immediately grabbed water and did not hesitate to help put out the fire.
Meanwhile, a raging fire swept through a residential and commercial location in Mandaluyong City recently, causing the tragic death of a three-year-old boy. The blaze, which devoured a number of establishments and residences, also injured six others. According to a report by GMA News, the young boy’s remains were discovered on the second floor of a residential building. Among those injured were several firefighters who immediately responded to the emergency.
