This was his firm assertion when he addressed the International Criminal Court during its pre-trial hearing.
He also lamented the way that FPRRD was transported to The Hague in the Netherlands, which he felt was “degrading” for “a former president of a sovereign country.”
“Two days ago, the world has witnessed the degrading fashion, in which, a former president of a sovereign country was bundled into a private aircraft and summarily transported to The Hague,” former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea, said when he addressed the court during its pre-trial hearing.

The former executive secretary said that for him and other lawyers, this could be viewed as “extrajudicial rendition,” or kidnapping.
“To us lawyers this would be called an extrajudicial rendition, to the less legally inclined, it was a pure and simple kidnapping,” former ES Medialdea said.
He also decried how his client, former president Duterte, was denied all access to legal recourse in the country where he was a citizen, adding that for him, it was a “nature of political score settling.”
“My client was denied all access to the legal recourse in the country of his citizenship, and this in the nature of political score settling,” Medialdea said.
The former executive then pointed out that in order for such dastardly act to happen, two entities, whom he did not identify but only made references to, “struck an unlikely alliance.”
“Two troubled entities struck an unlikely alliance, an incumbent president who wish to neutralize and choke the legacy of my client and his daughter on the other hand, and a troubled legal institution subject to delegitimization and desperate for a prized catch in a legal show today, on the other hand,” Medialdea said.
