A tragic vehicular accident in Tuba, Benguet, has resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to 19 others.

The incident involved a van returning from Baguio City, which reportedly experienced brake failure.

According to reports from Frontline Pilipinas, the accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday along Marcos Highway in Tuba, Benguet.

The van was carrying 22 passengers, many of whom were related, and was en route to Pampanga.

Authorities investigating the incident have stated that the van's brakes appeared to have failed as it descended a steep portion of the highway.

This loss of control led to the vehicle colliding with a concrete wall.

“Yung area kasi ay accident-prone area, may pakurba na pababa, doon bumangga ‘yung sasakyan,” stated Police Captain Francis Pawe, Investigation Officer of Tuba Municipal Police Station.

This statement highlight the already known dangers of that portion of highway.

The impact of the collision resulted in severe injuries to numerous passengers, with three fatalities confirmed. Medical personnel responded to the scene, providing immediate assistance to the injured.

As of the latest reports, 14 of the injured victims have been discharged from the hospital, while five others remain under observation.

The authorities are continuing to investigate the precise cause of the brake failure and the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The incident also draws attention to the inherent dangers of the Marcos Highway, and the importance of vigilance when traveling along it.

He said that the dump truck weighed 102 tons, exceeding the 13.5-ton axle load limit, making it more suitable for an 18-wheeler rather than a 10-wheeler.

Meanwhile in news down south, Cebu vlogger Boss LB, more popularly known as "Snail Man" took to Facebook and issued an apology. He said that he would be going to the police station to apologize for the wrong he has done, particularly for crawling on the highway in the midst of traffic. He also mentioned that he caused an inconvenience on the road on Sunday, March 9, in Consolacion, Cebu. Authorities are now looking at filing appropriate charges for Snail Man for what he did.
