The incident, which involved three vehicles, left six people injured and raised concerns about the bridge’s structural integrity.

According to a report by State of the Nation, the collapse occurred when a dump truck heavily loaded with rocks passed over the bridge.

The weight of the vehicle may have contributed to the structural failure, leading to the accident.

Authorities have yet to locate the truck’s driver, who was missing from the scene.

Emergency responders rushed the six injured individuals to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

Following the incident, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Cagayan Valley issued a reminder to motorists, urging them to exercise caution.

Meanwhile, DPWH regional personnel are assessing the extent of the damage and determine necessary repairs.

In a separate statement, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office announced that the bridge would undergo further retrofitting due to identified design flaws.

As a safety precaution, authorities have restricted access to the bridge, allowing only small vehicles to pass until structural improvements are completed.

In other news, a man accused of robbery was caught after his female victim who actively participated in the follow-up police operation pointed him out to authorities as he loitered in the area. Earlier, the female victim was walking along the IBP road when she was accosted by the suspect, who took her cellphone. The victim immediately reported the incident to the authorities, who immediately launched a police operation with the female victim tagging along with them. Shortly after, the female victim saw the suspect in a nearby area and pointed him out to authorities, who then promptly arrested the male suspect.

Still in other news, a 34-year-old woman was discovered in a canal in Caloocan City. She was found with two gunshot wounds to the head. which authorities suspect linked to a drug-related motive. Following the shooting, police conducted a hot pursuit operation, and a witness led them to a house where the suspect allegedly fled. A video circulated online showing residents accusing police of forcibly entering their home and damaging their gate.
