A heartbreaking tragedy struck a grieving family after a grandmother and her 9-year-old grandson lost their lives when they fell into an open canal and were swept away by raging floodwaters.

According to a report from Frontline Pilipinas, the two were attending to the documents needed for the burial of the grandmother’s 3-year-old grandchild when the accident happened.
The heavy rains had caused strong currents, making the open canal even more dangerous, but the victims accidentally fell into it.
