His arrest stems from a robbery and stabbing incident that occurred in April 2023.

“Nasa tindahan 'yung biktima at inagawan ito ng cellphone. Nakipag-buno itong biktima natin ay sinaksak sa may balikat at nagtamo nga ng sugat ito,” P/Col. Sabulao said.

Following the incident, the suspect fled on a motorcycle, while bystanders rushed the injured victim to the hospital for treatment.

Col. Sabulao further explained that the suspect was apprehended a day after the robbery for a separate drug-related offense.

“After a day, nahuli natin itong suspek naman sa drug naman. So yung kanilang napagbintangan sa cellphone, yung kanilang ninakaw ay ipinang-score nila at doon nga, nahuli natin ito sa droga,” the police official also said.

The stolen cellphone, the police official added, was used by the suspect to purchase illegal drug, which led to his arrest at that time.

The suspect was released on bail in 2024, but subsequently failed to appear in court hearings related to the robbery case.

This prompted the court to issue a warrant of arrest against him on January 30, 2025.

During the arrest, the suspect denied the accusations, claiming he was wrongly identified.

“Di ako yun. Akusa lang 'yun… nagtatrabaho ako eh bakit ako maghoholdap… di ako nagdodroga… hindi rin ako nagbebenta… pinagbintangan ako eh,” the suspect claimed.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Rodriguez Police Station. He faces charges of robbery with violence or intimidation of a person and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.

The case will now proceed to the courts, where the suspect will have the opportunity to present his defense against the charges.
