Authorities have found that it is not true that two students were kidnapped by a white van and spread on social media in Davao City.

In a report by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on Friday, it was said that the two students first announced that they were kidnapped by assailants riding in a white van near a mall on the night of February 19, 2025.

However, police investigation revealed that the two students cut classes and went to a mall.

The students allegedly injured themselves to further their story of kidnapping.

However, they were found at a convenience store on Thursday morning after responding to a text message from their teacher.

According to Police Captain Hazel Tuazon, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, the students were afraid that their parents would scold them for not returning home immediately, so they made up the story of "kidnap me."

The two students will be subjected to assessment and monitoring by social workers.

In a separate story about students, two minor junior high school students were injured after they were stabbed and beaten by fellow students outside a school in Pasig City. Seven of the minors who were involved in the horrific incident are now in police custody.

The incident, according to GMA News, happened outside a school in Pasig City, leading to injuries.

“The fight between the students led to the stabbing of the two victims,” said Pasig City Police chief Police Colonel Hendrix Mangaldan.
