A father and his child, along with another relative, died after the tricycle they were riding collided with a truck in Dipolog City.

In a report by Efren Yunting Mamac on GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on Friday, it was said that the tricycle was on its way to school to drop off the children.

The 32-year-old father who was driving the tricycle, his nine-year-old son, and his nine-year-old nephew were killed in the tragedy.

Another 14-year-old nephew of the tricycle driver was also seriously injured.

Police investigation revealed that the tricycle overtook the motorcycle it was following, causing it to collide with an oncoming forward truck loaded with motorcycles.

“Hindi niya agad na-overtake-an yung single motorcycle, na-out-of-lane siya… actually, based sa narration ng driver ng truck is nag-slow down na siya to give way para maka-abante muna yung motorcycle but nag-abot sila doon sa lane ng truck, nag-head-on collision,” said Dipolog City Police Station Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Verson.

The truck driver is in the custody of the authorities and did not give a statement.

Both parties will reportedly continue to talk to see if there is an agreement after the incident.

In other news, a tricycle driver ends up in jail after attempting to bump a policeman at a Comelec checkpoint. The incident happened in San Marcelino, Zambales, where police authorities were conducting a routine Comelec checkpoint. According to Police Regional Office III Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, the tricycle driver acted suspiciously upon approaching said checkpoint. This prompted several police personnel to pursue the tricycle but instead of complying, it maneuvered recklessly, injuring a policeman in the process.

Still in other news, a family of three almost met a tragic end when the motorcycle they’re riding in fell down when a dog crossed its path. GMA Regional News shared a CCTV footage from an establishment nearby captured the incident. In the footage, one can see the motorcycle carrying the rider, a woman and a child traversing the designated motorcycle lane. All of a sudden, a dog crossed their path, sending all three of them tumbling down with one narrowly missed by the tires of a passing SUV.
