According to the police, they happened to be patrolling the area when the incident occurred.

“While conducting patrolling sir lumapit po sa amin yung complainant, sinabi po na may nanakot sa kanya, tinutukan po siya ng baril. Agad agad naman po kami rumesponde sa area at doon nalaman namin na hawak-hawak niya yung baril kaya agad namin siya inaresto,” said Police Lieutenant Ryan Polca, the sub-station 5 deputy commander of the Malabon City Police.

He did not have any relevant documents to show.

“Upon verification yung baril ay hindi po lisensyado at hindi rin po holder license yung suspek. Isusubmit po namin yung baril sa NPD Forensic Unit for ballistics examination para malaman sir kung nagamit pa ito sa ibang krimen,” Polca added.

The suspect was involved in a shooting in 2013 and was charged with murder.

He was only released in June last year.

"Abogado ko na lang po yung bahalang magsalita sa akin,” the suspect said when asked about his arrest.

The suspect will face charges of grave threat and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.

The incident happened in San Marcelino, Zambales, where police authorities were conducting a routine Comelec checkpoint. Still in other news, a family of three almost met a tragic end when the motorcycle they’re riding in fell down when a dog crossed its path. GMA Regional News shared a CCTV footage from an establishment nearby captured the incident. In the footage, one can see the motorcycle carrying the rider, a woman and a child traversing the designated motorcycle lane. All of a sudden, a dog crossed their path, sending all three of them tumbling down with one narrowly missed by the tires of a passing SUV.
