A man lost his life in Iloilo City after getting electrocuted by an exposed wire from a streetlight.
Based on police investigations, the man was allegedly jaywalking and attempted to pass through a wire that acted as a divider between the two lanes of the road.
Unfortunately, as he made contact with the wire, it also touched an open electrical wire from a nearby streetlight, resulting in electrocution.
Emergency responders arrived and did their best to revive him before rushing him to the hospital.

Sadly, despite their efforts, he did not survive and was declared dead on arrival.
In a report by GMA 7's GMA Regional TV, the victim's family said that the man hadn't gone home for quite a while.
They're asking for financial help from the Iloilo City LGU.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City's Engineer Office is making sure that the wires for their street lights are safely installed.
Survival after electrocution depends on voltage, current strength, the electricity’s path through the body, duration of contact, and medical response.
Low-voltage shocks (below 500V) are generally survivable but can cause burns or heart issues, while high-voltage shocks (above 500V) may lead to fatal internal injuries and cardiac arrest.
The risk increases if the current passes through vital organs like the heart, especially in hand-to-foot or hand-to-hand contact.
