In an interview with GMA 7's 'Unang Balita,' the caller introduced herself as a "manager officer" of one of her husband's doctors.
She also said the caller knew the doctor very well and the expertise of the doctor, that's why she was persuaded.
It also became believable because the bank account number to which they sent the money was named after one of her husband's doctors.
However, when a nurse decided to call the doctor, that's when they realized that it was indeed a scam.

They already reported the incident to the PNP - Anti-Cybercrime Division.
They're now worried about where to get funds to pay off their hospital bill because their remaining balance still stands at almost half a million pesos.
They fear that the bill will only go higher as long as her husband is still in the hospital. According to the report, the hospital is currently not accepting guarantee letters.
The family also doesn't have something to give as collateral to be granted with a promissory note.
However, GMA Integrated News was able to talk to an employee of the hospital and they were told they're accepting guarantee letters, but they have no say when it comes to scam issues.
