A Davao Occidental farmer resorted to stabbing several family members, resulting in the death of three and injuring two others, after his offer to reconcile with his ex-wife was rejected by the latter and her family.

In a report by ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, the 52-year-old farmer went to the house of the victims after the burial of the latters’ close kin.

They then invited the farmer to eat and have a drink with them.

A little while later, one of the victims who sustained stabbing injuries heard a loud argument ensue.

“Hindi nagtagal, parang nagtaasan na sila ng boses,” she said.

It was learned that the farmer wanted his ex-wife to return and live with him again, an idea that the woman and a couple of her family members rejected.

According to P/Lt. Col. Mark Donald Edquibal, the ex-wife of the farmer and her brothers rejected the idea of her living together again with the suspect.

“Unfortunately, hindi gusto ni misis niya at di na rin gusto ng mga kapatid ng misis niya na makipagbalikan at tinago na nila ang misis ng suspek, and then sa kalasingan at init ng ulo, doon na nangyari ang insidente,” P/Lt. Col. Edquibal, Chief of the Malita Municipal Police Office, said.

At this point, the farmer pulled out a long bolo knife from the bag he’s carrying and started stabbing people around him indiscriminately.

The incident left his two ex-brother-in-laws and another family member dead, with two other family members sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

Authorities immediately caught the suspect and filed cases of multiple murder and double frustrated murder against him.

In other news, a lady pilot died after the helicopter she’s flying crashed in a remote sitio in Guimba, Nueva Ecija. The pilot has been identified as Julia Flori Monzon Po, a resident of Parañaque. In what appeared to be a twist to the story, it was later learned that Sen. Bato Dela Rosa was her last passenger before the crash. Sen. Bato himself confirmed that Po flew the helicopter he rode in on the way to Baguio City and he later learned that it crashed while en route to Manila.

Pergentino Malabed’s video call with her little daughter, Talna, which the late PNP officer’s wife, Rio Alanis Taganas-Malabed, posted on social media has touched the hearts of many.
