Edcel Lagman, a Liberal Party stalwart and veteran lawmaker has passed away. He was 82.

The sad news was announced by his daughter, Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman, through a Facebook post.

In her post, Mayor Lagman said her father suffered a cardiac arrest around 5:01PM just this afternoon, Thursday, January 30.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Albay First District Representative and Liberal Party President Edcel C. Lagman,” Mayor Krisel said in her post.

“He left this world the way he lived his life – with integrity, compassion, and fearlessness. He fought until the end with the dogged determination, tenacity, and unshakable hopefulness that defined all that he stood for,” the Tabaco City mayor further said.

She also wrote a tribute for her father, saluting his traits as a father, grandfather, uncle, and congressman.

“He will be remembered and honored by his family, friends, and colleagues as a remarkable and generous father; a warm, thoughtful and loving brother, uncle and lolo; a true and loyal friend; and an upright, principled, and unwavering advocate of human rights and the rule of law,” she said.
“He will live on in our hearts and we will continue to honor his memory by living our lives the way that would make him proud. At his final peaceful moments, he was surrounded by all his children, sisters, and family members,” the Tabaco City local chief executive added.

Mayor Krisel then revealed the cause of death of Congressman Lagman.

“He came into this world on 01 May 1942 and left it for a better place on 30 January 2025 at exactly 5:01 in the afternoon due to cardiac arrest,” Mayor Krisel said.

Meanwhile, Rep. Tulfo's father, Senator Raffy Tulfo, admitted that it was indeed his son's car that was apprehended recently for using the EDSA Busway. According to Senator Tulfo, he confronted his son about it and then praised him for admitting to his wrongdoing and apologizing. Sen. Tulfo then explained the importance of owning up to one's responsibility, particularly if one is a public servant.
