The suspect in the attack on an 84-year-old woman from Carcar, Cebu, has also passed away.

According to GMA Regional TV's 'SAKSI,' the suspect, who was the victim's son-in-law, died due to an infection.

Reports say he attempted to swallow the handle of a toilet brush cleaner while inside his detention cell.

Both the elderly victim and the suspect are set to be buried this Sunday.

It can be recalled that the suspect son-in-law poured gasoline on the old woman and set her on fire.

It's the same kidnap-slay crime committed against Ruby Rose Barrameda in 2007 and as it turned out, the alleged mastermind behind the two crimes was believed to be the same person.
