The grief of the mother of the three siblings who died in a fire in Sta. Mesa, Manila, last January 14, worsened after learning that the deaths of her kids were being used in an online scam.

In an interview with GMA Integrated News, the mother, who asked to be identified only as alias “Khat,” said she can’t bear to think that there were others who would use the death of her children to make money.

Alias “Khat” said that the unidentified online scammer pretended to be the father of the fire victims and asked for donations for “his children’s” funeral expenses.

“Nagpanggap na tatay sila ng mga anak ko... Sana lumaban ka ng patas, wag mong gamitin ung kahinaan ng ibang tao para sa sarili mong kapakanan,” alias Khat said during the interview.

“Baka pag sayo nangyari 'to, mas hindi mo kayanin,” she added.

The grieving mother also narrated how the fire started and quickly spread.

She said it started around five in the afternoon, saying that it was fortunate her sixth child was able to bring his two small siblings, who were twins, during the initial stages of the fire.

Alias “Khat” said she tried to enter their dwelling to rescue her three other kids who were sleeping at the time but she was pulled back by her neighbors.

In related news, John Arcilla shared his two cents on the viral video a security guard shooing away a girl selling sampaguita garlands at SM Megamall. The veteran actor also aired support for the child vendor and called out the guard. In the comments section of his post, John also replied to a netizen's suggestion that the incident should get probed. The actor stressed that the child vendor should not be mistreated even if claims that she's not a real student are true.
