GMA News reported that at the time that Mary Jane was incarcerated, Darren was only two years old.

He is also looking forward to his mother coming home.

"Naiinggit po ako minsn. Naiisip ko, kung si Mama kaya nandoon kasama kaya siya. Mahirap po dahil minsan binu-bully po kami sa school. Nakulong daw po ang magulang ko. pero 'di na po naming pinapansin dahil kapag pinatulan, balewala po. Kaya hindi na po naming pinapansin."
