Former Senator Leila De Lima took time to answer questions fielded by a GMA News reporter in a chance encounter in the Senate hallway.
The former senator is at the Senate to attend the hearing investigating the drug war of the former administration.
“How does it feel lang po na makikita nyo ngayon yung mga tao na who were involved in the drug war during the last administration?” the GMA News reporter asked in an ambush interview.
“Well, it's mixed feelings. Mixed feelings kasi nagpapaalala yan sa akin ng mga nangyari noon lalo na ng mga ginawa nila sa akin and at the same time I have this feeling of real hope na baka nga naman, masimulan na talaga yung hustisya and accountability. Tingnan ho natin kung ano ang mga mangyayari sa hearing, although this is just an initial hearing,” former Senator De Lima said.

Earlier today, a GMA News reporter was also able to interview former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is also at the Senate today to attend the same hearing.
As for former Sen. De Lima, she has this to say to the former president:
“Tingnan natin kung ano ang mga demeanor ngayon ng dating pangulo at sana iwasan niya yung ranting, mga usual ranting niya, yung kanyang mga rhetoric, sana iwasan niya yun, magpaka-professional sana siya,” the former legislator said.
When asked if it was the first time that the former president and former senator would see each other after the release of former Sen. De Lima from detention, she answered in the affirmative.
“Ma'am first time nyo pong magkita, magkakaharap-harap no?” the GMA News reporter asked.
“Yes,” former Senator De Lima answered.
Leila de Lima, a former senator of the Republic of the Philippines. She has been incarcerated since 2017. It was alleged that the senator used dr*g money for her campaign in 2016.
It can be recalled that months ago, the former legislator was cleared of all drug charges that were filed against her. Upon facing the press, the former senator gave a strong message to former president Rodrigo Duterte. She said that it is time for them to answer for the things that they have done to the Filipino people. The former senator also said that she was only a victim, and that there are thousands of Filipino families who suffered because of the drug war.
Meanwhile in a previous social media post, the former legislator seemingly expressed regret over the breakup of the popular loveteam, KathNiel. The former lawmaker said that she has not met them in person yet and that the ex-couple had photos only with her standee. It can be recalled that Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla campaigned for the former senator and Justice Secretary during the 2022 presidential elections. In former Senator De Lima’s recent post, she thanked the former couple for the inspiration and prayed for their “continued growth and healing.”
