A big and popular shopping mall located in Naga City in Camarines Sur was not spared from the massive flooding brought about by typhoon Kristine.

In a series of photos taken by a netizen and shared by GMA News, one can see what appeared to be the ground floor of the SM City Naga submerged in knee-to-thigh-high floodwaters.

According to the sister of the netizen who took the photos, Maria Joy Abendaño Liwanag, some grocery items of the said establishment were carried away by floodwaters.

The shopping mall functioned as a temporary shelter for flood victims and those stranded by it.

SM City Naga reportedly provided the evacuees with food and water during their stay.

“Binigyan din po sila ng mall ng tubig at biscuit, tapos yung mga grocery nalutang na daw po at inaanod na,” Liwanag said in a post.

Recently, in a video shared by GMA News, some Naga City residents apparently already needed to go to houses with a third floor to escape floodwaters. In the video, one can see some residents of Brgy. Traingulo in Naga City going to their neighbors’ houses that have third floors. According to one resident, they helped some of their neighbors by inviting them to stay in the third floor of their house. Floodwaters brought about by Typhoon Kristine have submerged the second floor of some of the houses in Albay.

Earlier, it was reported that floodwaters in some parts of Albay have reached high levels, submerging even second floor levels of houses. In another video shared by GMA News, one can see floodwaters reaching the roofs some of the two-storey houses in Sta. Cruz, Libon, Albay. A teacher in the area who was able to post an appeal for help on social media said even evacuation centers were not spared by the floodwaters. She also voiced out her hopes about being rescued by rescuers.
