Congressman Sandro Marcos, representative of the 1st district of Ilocos Norte, joined his other fellow legislators in issuing a statement regarding the tirades of VP Sara Duterte against the congressman’s father, President Bongbong Marcos, Jr., and the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
It can be recalled that VP Sara threatened to have the body of the late former President Marcos Sr. exhumed and thrown to the West Philippine Sea.
The former president’s remains is buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, something which was approved by VP Sara’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and was one of his first acts upon assumption of the presidency.
Congressman Marcos said that while he was asked by his father, President BBM, not to issue a statement about VP Sara’s tirades, the Ilocos representative said he can’t stay silent any longer as the VP has already crossed the line.

He also called out the “bizarre temper tantrum” of VP Sara.
“For all this time, I have held my tongue out of respect for the Vice President given the mandate she was given and the responsibility which her office holds,” Congressman Marcos’ statement read in the beginning.
“However, as a son, I cannot stay silent while she threatens to exhume a former president and behead an incumbent one. Besides, her bizarre temper tantrum has been condemned by a nation horrified from such displays of insenstivity towards the dead and cruelty to the living,” the statement read.
“Forget that the objects of her derisions are dear to me, but I would also be remiss in my responsibility as an Ilocano representative if I didn't voice out my disdain at the abhorrent comments she so carelessly uttered. I can ascertain that my emotions are shared not only by my kakailian (countrymen) in the north but across the country,” the congressman further said in his statement.
“For his part, the President had not said anything against her that can be remotely construed even as a mild rebuke against her tirades. He even advised me to withhold my disappointment and refrain from making a statement. However, one must draw the line at some point and it's frankly long overdue,” the statement further reads.

“Going ballistic was perhaps the self therapy she prescribed for herself. But she crossed the line, leaving the civic and civil space in which disagreements can be rationally argued,” Sandro Marcos, in a statement said.
Near the end of his statement, Congressman Marcos reminded everyone to be mindful of their mental health and then wished VP Sara well.
“Let this be an opportune time to remind ourselves that we mustn't take our mental health for granted and that above all else I sincerely hope she is okay,” the statement reads.
“As such, I still wish the Vice President well. Ultimately, her success, like the President's, will be the success of our nation as a whole. May she find the peace of mind and mental clarity that seems to be eluding her,” Congressman Sandro Marcos concluded in his statement.
