A father who was crossing a bridge to get to work was killed in Manila after a motorcycle crashed into him, resulting in his sudden death.

In the CCTV of GMA's Unang Balita, a father who was holding an umbrella up due to the rain could be seen crossing the Nagtahan Link Bridge.

However, a motorcycle rider decided to counterflow, resulting in the latter crashing against the 58-year-old man who was just going to work.

According to MPD spokesperson Police Major Phillip Ines, "Hindi niya napansin na habang patawid ito ay nabangga niya. Pareho silang tumilapon sa kalsada."

The 58-year-old father perished before they could even rush him to the hospital, while the 49-year-old rider sustained a few wounds as well.

In the video, Barangay Tanod Tony Abueva mentioned that the rider was still dizzy and smelled of alcohol when they reached the scene of the crime.

Following this news, the family of the victim are seeking to file a case, "Itutuloy po namin kasi masakit sa amin mawalan ng tatay. Ginawa niyang ganoon lang ang buhay ng tatay ko dahil lang nakainom siya… Buhay iyon kinuha niya eh. Harapin niya na lang."

Meanwhile, the rider refused claims he drank alcohol and pleaded to the family not to file a case.

"Sana maawa din sila kasi hindi naman sinasadya. Disgrasya lang din po… Dapat areglo na lang sila. Hihingi na lang po ako sa kanila ng sobra-sobrang patawad kasi hindi naman sinasadya iyong nasagasaan ko iyong pamilya nila," he said.
