It can be recalled that Ms. Napoles was thrust into the limelight when some of her staff made the shocking revelation about the PDAF scandal, a disclosure that later implicated Sen. Enrile, Sen. Revilla, and Sen. Estrada.

Sen. Revilla and Sen. Estrada went to jail but were later released and were subsequently cleared of the charges filed against them.

Sen. Enrile did not go to jail because of his advanced age.

“God is good. Thank you thank you. Sa lahat ng nagdasal, thank you very much,” Ms. Napoles said in a short video clip.

Janice Lim Napoles is a controversial businesswoman who became known all over the Philippines as the center of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scandal, also referred by other media outlet as pork barrel scam. She is alleged to be the architect of the scandal.

In the year 2018, Ms. Napoles was sentenced to reclusion perpetua or 40 years of imprisonment. Along with her was lawyer Richard Cambe who will be transferred to New Bilibid Prison. However, Senator Bong Revilla who was involved in the case was found “not guilty” by the court.

Meanwhile, around the same time, the three senators who were implicated along with Ms. Napoles in the "pork barrel scam" expressed their intention to go back to work as legislators. These senators were Bong Revilla, Juan Ponce Enrile, and Jinggoy Estrada. According to the COMELEC in 2018, the three could run as they are not barred from doing so since their conviction is not final yet.
