Former DBM exec na naugnay sa Pharmally, naaresto sa Davao City

- Lloyd Christopher Lao, the former officer-in-charge of the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management, was arrested

- He was arrested in Davao City on Wednesday

- The Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), was the one that carried out the arrest

Lloyd Christoper Lao, the former undersecretary of the Department of Budget and Management, who was tagged in the Pharmally controversy was arrested in Davao City.

Based on the report of GMA, it was the PNP-CIDG who nabbed Lao.

The arrest warrant, according to Inquirer, was issued by the first division of Sandiganbayan on Sept. 12 after charges of graft were filed against him, particularly a violation of Section 3 of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Ombudsman Samuel Martires confirmed with the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the case was filed against Lao and former Department of Health (DOH) chief Francisco Duque III in Sandiganbayan.

Based on the information filed with the Sandibganbayan, DOH transferred P41 billion to the PS-DBM in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

The Ombudsman said that Duque authorized the transfer even though that the DOH had the capacity to carry out the procurement.
