The Philippine National Police revealed how Alice Guo kept herself occupied during her detention at the PNP custodial center over the last weekend.

According to a report by Inquirer.net, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said in a chance interview that the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor asked for faith-based books.
Guo, whose real name is Guo Hua Ping, passed the time reading the Bible and “The Purpose Driven Life.”
“[Former] Mayor Alice Guo requested for books, that [keep] her occupied,” said Fajardo on Monday in front of the custodial center.

“She requested for faith-based books,” Fajardo added.
It is worth noting that Guo appeared before the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality on Monday, September 9.
During the hearing investigating the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators, the Senate panel cited her in contempt for the second time for allegedly continuing to lie, as per a GMA News report.
This is the first time that Guo appeared at the Senate after she fled the Philippines in July.
Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then.
Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, was arrested in Indonesia. Sen. Win Gatchalian, in a social media post, announced that the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor was arrested in Tangerang City, Jakarta. In a message sent to GMA News, Gatchalian said Guo was nabbed at 1:30 AM on September 4, 2024 and she is currently in the custody of the Indonesian Police. The news was also confirmed by NBI Director Jaime Santiago, according to ABS-CBN News.
Alice Guo allegedly fled the Philippines because she feared for her life. Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos revealed this during a press conference following their arrival from Indonesia early Friday morning. In the same presscon, the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor confirmed the statement of Abalos. She also confirmed receiving death threats, and she feels safe being with Philippine authorities.
