MMDA, isasara ang kontrobersyal na wheelchair ramp para sa "improvements"

- The Manila Metropolitan Development Authority (MMDA) will be closing the controversial wheelchair ramp for improvements

- The ramp in question is situated at the EDSA-PhilAm station in Quezon City

- During a conference with the media, Romando Artes, MMDA acting chairman said that there would be a lift that will be installed

- He also noted that it will be adjust at the busway

The controversial PWD/wheelchair ramp at the EDSA-Philam station in Quezon City, which was questioned for being too steep, will be close temporarily in order to make improvements, ABS-CBN News reported.

This was revealed by Romando Artes, acting chairman of MMDA during a forum with the media.

"Sa amin po kasing observation, wala halos gumagamit ng bus carousel na naka-wheelchair. Buti na lang na-criticize din po kami kaya napag-isipan naman po kung paano ia-address ‘yong issue," Artes stated.

The work for the improvements have started on Saturday.

They will also be closing the ramp and in place would be the stairs.

“In the meantime isasara po muna namin habang ginagawa. Maghahagdan muna po ang ating mga kababayan,” he said.

He also emphasized that the government will not be paying for the improvements and that the contractor would be the one to shoulder the expenses.
