Two policemen who were part of the alleged buy bust operation conducted along the boundary of Batangas and Quezon province admitted to wrongdoing after questioning by legislators.
In a report by GMA News, the two officers, team leader Police Master Sergeant Juan Macaraig and team member Police Sergeant Michie Perez, apparently made the admission after some members of their team requested for an executive session.
Earlier, all of the police team members were subjected to intense questioning by members of Congress, which included Rep. Dan Fernandez, Rep. Romeo Acop, Rep. Caraps Paduano, Rep. Ace Barbers, and other members of the congressional committee conducting the legislative inquiry.
In a report by Politiko, all team members, at the outset, stuck to their stories about the alleged buy bust and subsequent encounter which led to the death of the supposed suspect, 33-year-old Bryan Laresma.

However, after they were confronted with contradicting evidence, which include affidavits from barangay officials, the brother of the alleged suspect, and CCTV footages, four of the team members requested an executive session after undergoing intense questioning from congressmen.
Team leader, Police M/Sgt Macaraig, and Police Sgt. Michie Perez, who was alleged to be the shooter of Laresma, also requested to take part in the executive session along with their other co-members but their request was denied.
It was during this time that Macaraig and Perez requested they change their affidavit, this time admitting that there was really no buy bust, nor shootout, and that they planted illegal substances on the suspect.
