The video of a 20-year-old varsity basketball player from Bacolod City where he can be seen replicating the famous leaps and dunks of hoop legend Michael Jordan, has gone viral.

Winefredo Fernandez, who is endearingly called by his friends and family as “Daboy,” is a varsity player from the STI-University in Bacolod City.

His name would have become largely unknown outside of Bacolod City if not for the “Slam Dunk” competition held in the city on October 9 as part of its celebration of the MassKara Festival.

During the event, participants from various schools and teams displayed their abilities in dunking the ball.

Out of nowhere, “Daboy” dashed out and performed a series of dunks, which included the one-handed dunk, windmill dunk, reverse dunk, 360 dunk, rock the cradle dunk, and the famous free throw line dunk.

The crowd roared with approval as “Daboy” perfectly performed dunk after dunk.

A video of him performing the feat later surfaced online and was picked up by various Facebook pages, including the HoopX Basketball page, which later went viral.

The narrator of the compiled version of the video that was posted on the HoopX Basketball Facebook page said that “Daboy’s” feat reminded many people of the young basketball legend Michael Jordan.

He particularly pointed out the free throw line dunk of “Daboy” who, like MJ, appeared to hang in the air as he brought the ball to the hoop.

As of this writing, the said video has gained 96K reacts with 1.7K comments and 2.4 million views.

Posts, such as photos or videos, that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people.

One such viral post is about a dog who wouldn't leave the morgue area of the MCU Hospital in Caloocan City. According to hospital personnel, the dog has been there for over a year after the admission of his owner to the said hospital. Unfortunately, his owner died due to COVID and since then, the dog wouldn't leave the morgue and appears to be waiting for his owner to retrieve him, not knowing that his master is never coming back.
