The Green Soldier of Baguio City rose to fame after several videos of his road performances surfaced online. Behind the green paint and costume is Jhonwel Reyes, also known as Tito Noel, a mime artist who grew up in Metro Manila. He has previously worked as a construction worker, pedicab driver, factory worker, janitor, service crew, and later as mime artist. He then moved to Baguio City where he found his luck and became known as The Green Soldier.

The Green Soldier rose to fame after social media posts of his videos showing his performances and antics went viral. Such viral posts can thrust an ordinary person into the limelight, as what happened in the case of a 58-year-old mother and her son who were classmates in senior high school and who both graduated recently has gone viral. Maria Cecilia Cadiz, a vegetable vendor, and her young son John Gabriel, who also happened to be her classmate, graduated together from the Bais City National High School. A local radio station, Yes The Best 106.3, interviewed the elder Cadiz and asked her what can she say about graduating together with her son. She attributed everything to the Almighty’s “right and perfect timing,” adding that she was very happy she finally graduated from high school.
