Rolando Yumol, the father of Dr. Chao-Tiao Yumol, was shot dead in front of his house in Lamitan City, Basilan, early morning on Friday, July 29.
"Kaka-confirm lang ng Lamitan police na pinatay po iyong tatay ni Dr. Yumol kaninang mga around 6:30 to 7 a.m.," Police Lieutenant Eirene Mazon told Inquirer over the phone.
Dr. Yumol was the lone suspect in the shooting incident in Ateneo, where former mayor Rose Furigay was shot dead.
"So far, it is speculative to assume its direct relation to the shooting incident that happened last Sunday at the Ateneo de Manila University," said PNP Public Information Office chief BGen. Roderick Alba, a PTV report stated.

Two others died in the same incident, the aide of the slain mayor and the university guard.
"Our police personnel in Lamitan City is already conducting an investigation regarding the case," Alba said as per Manila Times.
Footages of the incident have already been made public. It showed the daughter of Furigay was beside the former mayor when the shooting happened.
The daughter of Furigay was supposed to join the graduation rites for the Ateneo Law School.

Ogie Diaz, in a social media post, lamented the seemingly hero worship that some netizens accorded to Dr. Chao-Tiao Yumol. The physician is the one being pointed out as the perpetrator of the shooting incident at the Ateneo de Manila University. The incident left three people dead, including a former municipal mayor in Basilan, and several others injured.
The comedian also took to Twitter and expressed his disdain over some comments about the Ateneo shoot-out suspect. He retweeted another comment made by a netizen who was in disbelief over people who would say, "Stay strong, Doc."
