Sharon Cuneta opens up on being a single mom to KC Concepcion: “kahit gatas walang nagbigay”

Actress and singer Sharon Cuneta opened up on her experience many years ago as a single mother to KC Concepcion, whose father is Sharon’s ex-husband, Gabby Concepcion. Sharon and Gabby legally separated after KC was born.

In a video shared by PhilStar taken at Insular Life‘s Women’s Month special event for its “Sheroes” campaign 5th anniversary held in Peninsula Manila Hotel, Makati City, Sharon shared that she did not receive child support when she was raising KC. However, she clarified that her parents gave KC gifts but not necessities.

Furthermore, the Megastar believed she helped KC learn about the value of independence through the way she raised her as a single mom.

“Of course, she was my everything and my world when she was growing up.

“S’yempre, something had to give. In that sense, ako lang naman talaga ‘yung breadwinner. Wala namang tumutulong sa’kin. Kahit isang lata ng gatas, ako lang naman talaga, walang nagbibigay, except my mom and dad, but it would be gifts, not necessities, you know?

“I wanted KC to grow up knowing how to fend for herself, and she did that. So that at least, I’m proud of na sinunod n’ya.”

Sharon Cuneta, commonly known as the 'Megastar' in the local showbiz industry, is a prominent veteran celebrity in the Philippines. She is also the mother of KC Concepcion, her daughter with fellow actor Gabby Concepcion. In 1996, she tied the knot with Kiko Pangilinan.

Just days ago, in a report by ABS-CBN News, Sharon reflected on her current marriage to former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, and the social media controversy they went through last year when she posted a cropped family photo with Kiko’s head not visible in the image.

“Nag-aaway kami nun, sorry. You know, we have problems, that’s another thing. How stupid was I, ‘di ba? But also, really, I wanted (a photo of) my gremlins, of the four (children). Wala akong makita na picture nila na wala ang daddy nila but then, pagka-post ko, ‘OMG, mukha akong tanga, ba't 'ko pinost, putol 'yung asawa ko!” Sharon said.

Inquirer also reported that Sharon supported Kiko in filing cyber libel charges days ago against the owners of Bungangera TV for alleging on their YouTube channel that the senator physically abuses Sharon and their children.
