The Queen of All Media recently prepared for a Netflix project, an occasion that became especially meaningful for longtime makeup artist RB Chanco. For Chanco, being part of Kris’ preparation was not simply another professional assignment but a moment that carried deep personal significance.
“THIS WAS NEVER JUST A JOB. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS THAT FEELS BIGGER THAN THE JOB ITSELF,” Chanco wrote in a post accompanying a reel of Kris getting ready for the project.
Chanco has worked with Kris for many years and has remained among the people close to her throughout the challenges she has faced. Her account offered fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at Kris during a period when many had been closely following updates about her health.

According to Chanco, their call time was at 2 p.m., and Kris immediately felt familiar once she sat in the makeup chair.
“Call time was 2PM. Kris sat in my chair and within minutes, it felt like no time had passed at all. She was energetic, talkative, funny and full of stories. We laughed and did makeup like we had so many times before,” she recalled.
The return, however, was not without difficulties.
Just as the team was preparing Kris for her first frame, her allergies suddenly became a problem. The unexpected reaction affected her makeup and eyelashes, creating an intense situation for Chanco behind the scenes.
“We arrived on set ready for her first frame. Then her allergies decided to act up. WHY NOW? Her eyes started tearing nonstop. My eyeshadow was disappearing, my false lashes were coming off, and I literally wanted to die. I was having a full blown crisis and calling every saint and angel in heaven.“
Despite the setback, Chanco eventually managed to prepare Kris for the cameras. What happened next became the most meaningful part of the experience for the makeup artist.
“And Kris did what Kris does. She gave us the Kris we all know and love. Funny, energetic, professional and completely in her element. Even when I knew she was in pain, she kept going. No complaints. She gave it everything she had. As if the hiatus had never happened,” Chanco said.
“One take. That’s Kris.”
For Chanco, witnessing Kris return to work carried a significance that went beyond the actual project. She saw it as a reflection of the effort Kris had made to reach that point again.
“I wasn’t just watching Kris. I was watching someone who had fought so hard to get back there,” she said.
Chanco then described the moment as more than a career comeback.
“And that’s when it hit me. This wasn’t just a comeback. It was a victory. A victory for Kris, her sons, everyone who prayed and waited, and the millions who never stopped believing.”
The makeup artist, who has been present for numerous important moments in Kris’ career, said the experience would remain particularly meaningful to her.
“I’ve been lucky enough to glam Kris through so many unforgettable moments in her career, through both the beautiful and most difficult times. That’s why this one will always hold a different place in my heart,” she shared.
Chanco also directly addressed Kris, expressing how special it was to see her shine once more.
“After everything you have been through, what a privilege to watch you shine again. The screen missed you. We all did.”
Her message ended on an optimistic note, suggesting that Kris’ return could mark the start of more opportunities ahead.
“And this is just the beginning. I have a feeling there is so much more to come.”
