Carla Guevara Laforteza, mom of KATSEYE’s Sophia thanks fans for their concern and prayers

Sophia Laforteza received a heartfelt message of support from her mother, Carla Guevara Laforteza, after announcing her temporary break from KATSEYE activities.

In an Instagram post, Carla thanked the people who reached out to their family and offered prayers for the Filipina singer.

“Thank you for your kind messages and concern and offer of prayers for Fifi,” Carla wrote, referring to her daughter by her nickname.

The actress also acknowledged the demanding schedules handled by the members of KATSEYE. She said the girls sometimes work so hard that they forget they are also human and need enough time to rest.

Carla then emphasized that her daughter would focus on her recovery, writing, “So rest and recover she shall.”

Aside from thanking the fans, the celebrity mom expressed her appreciation for KATSEYE’s management. She said their family was grateful that the people handling the group were looking after the members and making their health a priority.

Sophia’s temporary hiatus was announced on Saturday, August 8, Philippine time. The group’s leader explained through social media that she needed to step back from activities to focus on her mental health and overall wellness.

In her message to supporters, Sophia admitted that stepping away from performing was a difficult decision.

“Making this decision wasn't easy, but I'm learning that health has to come first,” she said.

The artist explained that taking care of her mind and body would allow her to continue doing what she loves in the future. She also promised to recover “and come back stronger.”

While on a break, Sophia encouraged EYEKONS to continue giving their love and support to KATSEYE. She added that she would be supporting her fellow members as part of the fandom in the meantime.
