In a recent video reel posted on her Instagram, Melissa opened up about the personal growth and fulfillment she experienced after making a conscious choice to prioritize self-care and start her own business.
"I think one of the best things that happened to me this year was taking a chance," Melissa shared. "I took a chance on self-care, taking care of myself, and having a business of my own without knowing anything about it." she confessed to her loyal following on Instagram.
Reflecting on her journey, Melissa admitted that acting was all she previously knew. Venturing into a whole new territory gave her a renewed sense of purpose and boosted her morale, especially as a woman.

"I gained my confidence back. I now am back to speaking to people, to hosting. It's just made such an impact in my life," she recalled. "Wala naman akong ibang alam kundi umarte, artista ako. But now I have my own business, I have clients, I have people who trust in me," she said.
Beyond the personal growth, Melissa highlighted the practical perks of running a home-based business, noting that it gave her financial independence while keeping her close to her children as well.
"Most of all, I get to spend time with my family and take care of my kids and be more present."

Melissa Ricks is a Filipino actress who gained prominence as the fourth runner-up in the 2004 ABS-CBN reality talent search, Star Circle Quest. Following her success in the competition, she became a regular on ABS-CBN. Her acting career flourished with notable roles in television dramas, including portraying Hiyas in Komiks Presents: Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko and Ella Perea in Kambal sa Uma. In 2011, she took on the lead role of Elisa Altamira in the mystery drama Nasaan Ka, Elisa? In her personal life, Melissa tied the knot with Michael Macatangay in 2021.
