​Finding peace sometimes comes with a very steep price tag, and former actress Ingrid Dela Paz is being completely transparent about the financial realities of fixing one's marital status in the Philippines.

​In a raw video uploaded on her social media page, the former star walked her followers through the jaw-dropping expenses she accumulated while trying to legally end her previous marriage before migrating. Ingrid was once married to Ken Hanaoka, but has since moved forward after securing a divorce in Canada. Looking back, she admitted that the Philippine legal system proved to be an incredibly expensive path.

​"Annulment sa Pinas... magkano nga ba ang nagastos ko?" Ingrid started her video. "Ako nga pala si Ingrid, dating artista na ngayon nakikipagsapalaran sa Canada para magbagong buhay."

​Ingrid revealed that her initial attempt to file for an annulment did not go as planned because she rushed into finding a legal representative. Because she was eager to settle the issue quickly, she ended up changing minds and switching attorneys.

​"Dalawang beses akong nag-attempt mag-file," she shared. "Yung unang beses, nag-down ako ng 150K acceptance fee sa lawyer. Pero nagbago ang isip ko at napagdesisyunan kong magpalit ng lawyer... Kasalanan ko rin naman dahil nagdali-dali ako."

​Determined to get it right the second time, Ingrid hired a different lawyer who charged her an initial ₱75,000 acceptance fee. However, the bills quickly stacked up with every documentation step.

​"Kada papeles at kada meet up sa lawyer, may bayad yun," Ingrid detailed. "At base sa mga resibo na naitago ko, inabot ako ng ₱400,367. Bukod pa yun sa binayad ko sa unang lawyer."

​In total, Ingrid shell out over ₱550,000 on the local filing process alone. Surprisingly, despite spending that massive amount, she never even stepped foot inside a courtroom.

​"Disclaimer lang na hanggang filing lang ito at hindi na ako naka-attend ng hearing, dahil pumunta na ako ng Canada," she explained, noting that the sum also covered psychological evaluations and processing fees.

​Now happily building a new life with Kevin Bayawa, Ingrid admits that looking back at the receipts can still bring a bit of sting. However, she chooses to see the silver lining in her long struggle.

​"Aaminin kong medyo masakit sa loob na naglabas ako ng ganito kalaki pero walang nangyari," she said honestly. "Pero naisip ko rin na... siguro kung hindi nangyari ang mga gulong 'to noon, hindi rin naman ako pupunta ng Canada, at hindi mangyayari ang pinaka the best na nangyari sa buhay ko—ang mga anak ko."

​Ingrid closed her heart-to-heart video with an encouraging note to her viewers, reminding everyone that even the most painful life chapters are often just preparations for a brighter, more beautiful future.
