Popular television host and comedian Melai Cantiveros-Francisco is turning to faith and calling for urgent community support after a devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Mindanao on Monday.

Taking to her shared Instagram account, @mrandmrsfrancisco, the General Santos City native posted a series of heartbreaking photos showing the sheer scale of the disaster. The several images under her official account display heavily damaged street corners, cracked roads, and completely collapsed multi-story buildings, alongside active local rescue teams and city disaster risk officers managing the chaotic scene.

Deeply shaken by the natural disaster hitting her beloved home region, the Kapamilya star penned an emotional and urgent prayer, asking for safety and swift recovery for everyone affected in the area.

"In Jesus' name, tanggalin niyo na Lord ang mga aftershocks, and sana Lord makabangon ang Mindanao labi na ang Gensan Lord sa paglindol na ito 🙏," Melai prayed fervently.

As news of the earthquake spread, she expressed her relief that her loved ones were spared from harm.

"Thank you sa lahat ng nangamusta sa pamilya ko, thank you Lord all safe sila, and praying for all families na safe din sila 🙏," she shared with a grateful heart on her Instagram page.

Knowing that the structural damage to buildings poses ongoing risks, Melai used her massive platform to ask for immediate medical and logistical assistance for the frontline responders on the ground. She emphasized that medical facilities are currently overwhelmed and need specific gear to keep patients safe outdoors.

"Panawagan na rin po sa lahat ng gusto mag-help, need po ng more tents sa mga hospitals namin dun 🙏 #PrayforMindanao," Melai pleaded.
