The veteran singer-songwriter recently opened up about his unexpected career pivot during a television appearance on the entertainment talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.

According to an article by GMA Network published online, the musician confessed that it took him a considerable amount of time to process his new professional reality.

"Took me a while to believe that I'll be in a movie poster like that," Rico shared during the interview.
"It's with Sue Ramirez, an incredible actress, super cool. And it's directed also by my idol growing up, Eric Quizon," he added.

The decision to transition into a romantic comedy represents a conscious personal effort for Rico to break away from routine and challenge his personal boundaries.

The multi-talented artist admitted that he had reached a point where he felt the need to actively engage with the world beyond the music stage.

"I was actually forcing myself to leave my house and do stuff other than just performing in shows," he remarked.

Explaining his decision-making process, Rico said, "Nagustuhan ko 'yung story and when I found out it was Sue na they were eyeing, sabi ko, nakita ko 'yung chemistry na puwedeng mangyari. So I got excited. And I think 'yung pinaka mabilis na yes when I found out na si Direk Eric Quizon [ang mag-di-direct]."
